Vacationing In Frances Sensual City Of Paris
If you are planning to visit Europe then you must stay at least a couple of days in one of its largest cities, Paris; sitting astride either side of the river Seine it is one of the world’s most popular cities. Paris short stays are very popular and for good reason as it makes a superb location for a romantic weekend; you will however, discover that more time is required to fully appreciate what it has to offer.
Paris is known for its wonderful buildings, style, excellent food and wine; plus sights like the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre and many other places that are havens for tourists, both home grown and international. Traveling through the city of Paris can be very enjoyable; there is a superb underground rail system called the Metro which is efficient and easy to understand.
At almost 1,000 feet high, the Eiffel Tower is an impressive sight; it can be seen throughout most locations around the city. Illuminated in the evening, it is one of the most beautiful sights in the entire city; guided tours add to the thrill as you get to peek into history on how it was constructed.
If you plan on spending some of your traveler’s checks in Paris, then a trip down the Champs Elysees is an essential part of a trip; you can see beautiful shops, sit and drink coffee from the many cafes or have a meal in a first class restaurant. This avenue is well worth a visit to see how the wealthy live; the exclusive five star hotels situated in this more select part of the city might be out of most visitors price range.
If you are an art lover you will enjoy the Louvre, a truly amazing museum; it holds in excess of 300,000 pieces of art, which cannot possibly be seen in a single visit. It would be easy for anyone on a Paris short stay vacation to spend all their time here; the Mona Lisa and the Venus de Milo statue just two of many appreciated works of art. Over the years, Paris has been home to many of the world’s famous artists; chances are that you will have the opportunity to see a number of famous paintings whilst you’re visiting.
Of course, Napoleon commissioned the construction of the Arc de Triomphe, another Paris landmark; to honor his generals (and his troops) he had their names inscribed upon it. A little known fact is that there’s a viewing observatory built into the building allowing the whole area to be viewed; it is located in Place Charles de Gaulle where twelve of the city’s main avenues start, including Avenue de Champs Elysees.
Certainly it is not fair to believe that these are the only places in the city worth visiting; and whilst there are many more worthy examples, those listed here should not be missed. A Paris short stay vacation will probably be best suited as just a taster of the city; a longer break here will be necessary if you really want to experience everything this wonderful city has to offer.
And while baguette crumbs can be dusted away and wine stains fade with time, the allure of the City of Light haunts those who’ve made her acquaintance, hanging in the air like distant music or lingering like fog along the Seine.
