Tips on Sweet Sixteen Parties
A girl’s sixteenth birthday party is special since it commemorates the peak of her teenage years. At this age, girls are starting to mature as they slowly prep themselves up for adulthood. Girls start to dress up and engage the formative years of their social lives. As a parent, you should prepare a birthday bash that fully captures this momentous stage in your daughter’s life.
The birthday party does not necessarily have to be very extravagant, unless your daughter requests for a formal party. You could recreate the most enjoyable social event that you have gone to and tweak it to suit your daughter’s preferences. Better yet, think of a good theme that will catch the fancy of your daughter and her friends. If your daughter loves the beach, you can have a beach-themed party; or if your daughter adores Johnny Depp, you can have all the attendants come to the party as Johnny Depp characters, and so on.
To make the party even more special, create a program for the enjoyment of your daughter and her guests. You can prepare games and ask your daughter’s friends to prepare special messages for your daughter. After dinner, you can play some trance or hip-hop music and ready the dance floor for an all-night party.
Prepare music that your daughter likes, not oldies that’ll embarrass her. However, if you’re throwing a party with a theme, you can play music that matches that theme. For example, if the theme is Hawaiian, then you can play Hawaiian tunes at the start, and then go for more upbeat tunes later on.
One more thing, your daughter is still far from the legal age. You can serve “mocktails” instead of real alcohol beverages to still give off a slightly mature feel to the event.
If your daughter prefers a more intimate or private gathering, then host a slumber party instead. Invite her closest friends and provide lots of food, drinks and music.
