Flower Girl Dresses: How to Find the Perfect Dresses
You’re planning your wedding and need flower girl dresses. Do you want a white flower girl dress or ivory flower girl dresses? Pink flower girl dresses or a combination?
What styles are “in” for flower girl dresses this season?
There are several very “standard” flower girl dress styles that are always appropriate:
Order them with the bride’s maids dresses at the same time;
- Shop from store to store for weeks and likely dragging them (and their parents) with you before the wedding but long after the bride’s maids dresses have come;
- Forget about it until it’s nearly too late, then panic and have to settle for whatever is available;
- Shop easily on line and send a message to each family telling them which style and color to order and that they need to get them ordered now - or order them yourself so you know they are ordered in time.
- Shop on line, make up your mind and order them yourself to be sure that the right style and colors get ordered and that they actually DO get ordered in plenty of time.
What style flower girl dresses are there?
The A-line - a figure-flattering style that looks good on almost everybody is quickly becoming THE #1 choice this season!
The ballgown. This is a fitted bodice to the natural waistline and a full, gathered skirt below with the “Cinderella” silhouette. It is always elegant and tasteful for little ones! Older girls, unfortunately, may balk at wearing this style complaining that it is “babyish” though they may love it again when they are older. It is also not the best style for extra-fluffy girls.
The ballgown. This is the classic silhouette of frothy skirt and fitted bodice. (Hint: the flower-petal filled dress usually has this shape). This is always a perfect choice for little ones but older girls may think this style is too “babyish” and pitch a fit. The “pick up” skirt is actually a ballgown that is modified with layers of the outer fabric “picked up” in places to create a different effect.
